Positioning components

The position of components on a shaft corresponds to the u-coordinate in the shaft coordinate system. For cylindrical gears, the specification of the position refers to the left face of the gear; for all other components (e.g., rolling bearings, plain bearings, bevel gears, etc.), the position refers to the center of the component.

(1) Starting coordinate of the shaft

(2) Bearings, cylindrical gears, shaft contours, loads, couplings, etc. (relative coordinate system)

The starting coordinates of the shaft refer to the absolute coordinate system. The coordinates of subordinate objects (e.g., cylindrical gears and bearings, as well as forces) are relative coordinates to the starting coordinates of the shaft. If the starting coordinate of the shaft is changed, all other components on the shaft are shifted.

Rolling bearings

The position of the bearing inner and outer rings can be specified when positioning bearings.

Position of the inner ring

The position of the inner ring always refers to the local coordinate system of the shaft on which the bearing is located.

Position of the outer ring

On the outer ring, the bearing can be connected in two ways:

  1. Outer ring mounted in the casing - Here, the position is based on the starting coordinate of the first shaft.

  2. Outer ring mounted in a second shaft - Here, the position is based on the starting coordinate of the outer shaft.
